BY NOAH ERICKSONThe other day, one of our writers was taking their dog for a walk, when all of a sudden, he was approached by none other than famous director Neil Blomkamp. When our writer asked why he wasn’t wearing clothes, Neil responded with the plot of his new Alien film:
“SO! My new alien film is going to be a little different from the last four. There will be no humans in mine. It will take place on post apocalypse earth when all of the humans have died and the aliens have taken over. The main character will star a poor lower class alien named 'Ghenta Tauri’ and his struggles going through everyday life. The antagonist of the film (Olil I’Kari) Will be an upper class alien who wants to make Ghent’s life much harder for some reason. My hope is to beat the audience over the head with my political beliefs even harder than my last three films combined!” When asked why he was telling our writer all of this, Neil ran away never to be seen again. Or until Alien 5 begins production in 2017. Stay tuned for more from Unreel News! Director James Cameron recently sat down with us for an interview. Here's what he had to say.
"James, would you consider making a sequel to Titanic?" "Absolutely. I have so many more stories to tell. " "What would that film be about?" "Well actually, it would involve Jack and his journey to find Rose, and end with a Force Awakens style scene with Jack finally finding Rose. Force Awakens sucked, by the way. Lacked imagination." "Sounds interesting, but didn't Jack die at the end of Titanic?" "No. Jack survived." "But how? He died of hypothermia and then sunk to the bottom of the ocean?" "He survived. Don't believe everything you see. That's the genius of storytelling. "How did he survive?" "He just did. It's not that hard to figure out that he survived. You didn't watch the post credits scene." "Okay, but we still don't understand. Did he fake his hypothermia? What happened?" "He survived, okay? He survived. And the next film tells his story. Maybe I'll make another one. It's endless." We quickly steered the conversation elsewhere after it was clear James was finished with the topic, when we noticed that the water bottle James was holding was completely smashed and the water had gushed out all over the place. "Oh, well that sounds, uh, interesting! So what do you have planned for the Avatar franchise?" As soon as the question was asked, James' grip on the water bottle released and his frown turned to a big smile. "I have it all mapped out! I'm currently writing the scripts for twenty-seven sequels, which will all film at the same time" "Twenty-seven? Wow, that's a lot. How come so many?" "It's the only way to tell the complete story. If it's not twenty-seven films, it will be a failure. A complete failure. Avatar is the greatest film of all time, and I made it. Everything else sucks. So I need to make movies people actually want to watch. "What's the release dates for these films?" "Avatar 2 is set for 2018, and the last film, Avatar 27, is set for 3012." "Do you plan to direct each film?" "No shit. Who else has the mind to tackle this franchise?" "But James, how do you expect to live that long?" "I probably will have invented some type of life extension machine by then. I'll live that long." "What if you don't?" James didn't respond to the last question, and stormed out of our facility. We apologize for this short interview. Stay tuned for more at Unreel News! BY NOAH ERICKSONThe hit film The Last Airbender is getting an anime inspired cartoon! BY NOAH ERICKSONLast month, the partially famous Max Landis uploaded a video talking about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and how he’d like the second movie to end. His version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows featured the song ‘Save Rock and Roll’ by Fall Out Boy. Apparently, Fall Out Boy wasn’t too happy about this and filed suit for over 100 million dollars. The band is usually okay with people using their music in their videos, so we asked them what the deal was. The leader of the band Patrick Stump said the following: “Usually we are ok with our music being used in other places. We here at Fall Out Boy support fair use 100%, but what Max Landis did was unacceptable. Statistics came back a few weeks after Landis’s video was uploaded. There were over 90 million refunds on our song ‘Save Rock and Roll’. iTunes told us it was even worse than the free U2 album crisis 2 years back. We looked at feedback from our fans and they all pointed back to Landis’s video ruining it for them. So me and the guys all took a look at the video and we couldn’t believe what we were watching. A grown man crying over a godamn Ninja Turtle movie?! The video was so bad none of us can play the song without cringing.” Patrick continued to tell us that Fall Out Boy is no longer able to be functioning band thanks to Landis, and are now going to dedicate the rest of their careers to destroying Max Landis. Stay tuned for more from Unreel News! WARNING: If you don’t want the song ‘Save Rock and Roll’ ruined for you, DO NOT watch this video. The Song begins at 12:00. Back in 2009, the world was graced with the masterpiece that was Dragonball: Evolution. At first the movie was reviled by critics because they were stupid and didn’t understand the masterful storytelling that was before their eyes.
With the film being a bomb at the box office, the odds of a sequel ever happening seemed very slim. But today producer Steven Chow at fox gave us these words: "Dragonball evolution 2 is well into production. It will star the same cast as the first an delve deeper into the themes we explored in the first.” We here at UNREEL are beyond excited for this movie! The film is aiming to hit theaters sometime next summer. Expect a review of masterly done first film soon. Keep it REEL Sony might have just taken the lead in this metaphorical game of Comic Con with just a simple tweet. Yesterday, Sony pictures was making some seriously mysterious tweets about a certain web slinging hero. Could Andrew Garfield dawn the mask of spiderman again? Papa's in the house... or should I say the cinemas! With almost 5,000 restaurants over the U.S and a Superbowl sponsorship, it seems like Papa is going to be somewhere else besides the kitchen. It's now being reported that the founder of Papa John's pizza, John Schnatter is interested in starting his own movie production company. We got to sit down with him at a Marriott Hotel in California. This is what he had to say about it. "I feel like I need to do something more with my life than just rolling dough. I love making pizza, don't get me wrong. However, I also love films. Every week I shoot a new commercial for my next big garlic bread invention. I always sponsor my pizza at movie premieres. I pretty much know how the business works inside in out. If this doesn't work than I'll just go back to pizza. But it's at least worth a shot. Better Ingredients, Better Movies, Papa John's". John also told us that he's planning on releasing a movie with Peyton Manning in the fall of 2019. Do you think this is a good idea? Do you even like Papa John's pizza?
